Abrokyir Trotro

Yes, this is another trotro story.

You are probably wondering how many trotro stories can this guy possibly write? A lot actually. Each trotro trip is a story on its own. Lets say I have been taking trotro twice a day, five days a week for twenty-five years...you do the math and tell me how many stories I can write about…like I said, A LOT. So yes I have another trotro story.  I have had the opportunity to travel to other countries and trotro is always my first choice. To be honest, I sometimes pick cities to visit just because of their trotro system. You know that saying “you can take the trotro out of the market but you can’t take the market…”, no that is not how the saying goes. I think it is “you can take the lion of the trotro, but you can’t…”. Okay, I can’t really remember the saying but basically what I want to get across is that I think taking trotro is just in my genes. Again, it is really not for everyone but it is definitely for me.

Abrokyir trotro di33 ei! Hmmm…the way they ran their service is not my level o. Trotro that you can call for someone to plan your trip for you, or use a map to know which bus to take, or use an app!  Na me ankasa nu, do I even know how to read a map? That is not all o, they have printed schedules that tells you what time your bus will arrive at a stop. Eish! People start getting angry when their bus is ten minutes later than what the schedule says. Me I just look at them and shake my head. You won’t be happy the bus even showed up, you are coming to do long tins. Mtchew! Honestly, things were too efficient for me. Personally, I like a little unpredictability in my trotro life. This is why Ghana trotro is good for me. Ghana trotro builds good character. I mean, on a busy morning do you know how much grit/tenacity/persistence is required to catch trotro? Abrokyir trotro is easy koraaa. I like abrokyir trotro when the weather is hot. I am not sure what is in their sun, but everytime the sun is out most of the ladies want to shed their clothes. It is really very fascinating. Come see bortos and tins on trotro. I mean, if they have determined that showing as much of their skin is what will help them, “whom ma I” to complain. The view on abrokyir trotro on a hot day is nice papa. Bortos in yoga pants are my weakness…kw333!

You know, other than how the service is run, abrokyir trotro is no different than Ghana trotro. The nature of conversations that happen are the same…you just never know what to expect. On a Monday morning while focusing on where I was going, some dude sat next to me initiated a conversation. I wasn’t really bothered by the fact that he started a conversation. What bothered me was his opening statement, “bro, I just got out of jail”. I mean, how do you respond to that? He just wanted to talk though, so I just mostly listened. Another time, two homeless buddies were talking, one was telling the other about how you could do a background check on yourself. He said he recently did a background check and he found out he had been arrested before, but he did not know. I mean, how do you get arrested and not know? That is trotro for you. I also overheard a conversation about which public libraries are more conducive for watching porn. What? Abrokyir trotro for you…you just never know.

Personally, I like Ghana trotro better. There is more adventure. I like hopping in and out of a moving car. I like running to catch a trotro. I like pushing through a crowd to get a seat. Someday, if you are up for it I will take you on a trotro ride.

Heels are not my wedding shoes

I thought we had Covid-19  under control but Ghana is steadily moving to a second wave of covid cases. Why? People are not taking the Covid-19 protocols serio usly and that’s pretty upsetting . My teammate joins the public transport every day to work and she tells me, she’s sometimes the only one wearing the mask. That’s very unfortunate. I wish we will all be responsible because covid doesn’t end with how cautious you are. We protect ourselves to save ourselves and others. Wear your masks, wash your hands, keep a sanitizer and observe social distance.   Don’t panic if the result is positive, you will be fine. I know you will be.  Drink warm water with crushed ginger and garlic. Add some lemon for a zesty effect. Most importantly, obey the body. Rest. Sleep. Drink water. Lots of it. And stay positive. You will be fine. Talk to friends who care. I just want to send a special mention to that friend who tested positive, you are loved. I will keep praying for you...

Tributes While I Am Still Alive

My birthday is coming soon, April 1.   I am 39 and very proud of it. Most women shy away from their age and I can’t really tell why?! My younger sister is always dreading her birthdays and one of my cousin’s have been 26 for the past 5 years.  I am one person who bluntly says my age whenever I am asked, irrespective of who and how it’s asked! Yes 39 and beautiful at heart 💜. No children yet and relationship is very much complicated. Relationship wise, I guess I’ve become too comfortable being single. (Hope my mum will skip this part) The things I look out for now are so funny and petty. 1. How he chews when eating  2. Use of shorthand to chat  3. His cologne  4. Low key on social media  5. I’ll end it at 4. In my 39 years on earth, I’ve made some mistakes and learnt a lot from it. I’ve hurt people and  I’m deeply sorry, if you are one of them. Others I know, others I have no ...

Everything Good Will Come

“ I danced the *kpalongo, fearing nothing for my sanity, or common sense. I added a few foreign steps to disorientate the discontented so-and-so: flamenco,can-can, Irish dancing from side to side. Nothing could take my joy away from me. The sun sent her blessings. My sweat baptized me.” ~Enitan Taiwo.  The day Fanny told me “everything good will come”, I felt she was in a better place so she could afford to say things like this to me.  I thought she didn’t understand my pain. I am sure she sensed I wasn’t impressed. Those words sounded like she was being dismissive of my pain. That was far from it. Now, I know better.  Thank you, Fanny.  I have learned; those words are one of the kindest words someone can say to you. You have to enjoy the process. It’s all yours! What’s life without the downs? The bumpy rides make you appreciate life on a smooth road (when you eventually get there). We will all get there soon.  I have been mouthing “everything good will come” fo...
