In February this year, I went to the United States of America for a meeting at the UN Headquarters in New York. I won't bore you with what the meeting was about.
It was my first trip to the US, although I should add that I had gone to Mexico in November 2019 and my friend Esenam had “advised” that I run from Mexico to the US. ππππ Mexico was a lovely trip. I liked the food. But anyway this write-up is about my trip to New York.
The trip to the US was a very interesting one. Before I even left Ghana, Esenam’s Tweety who knew I would be going to the US sent me money to chill with when I get to New York. He really ‘bost’ my brain. It's really one of the sweetest things I've experienced.
My flight to the US was a direct flight. But something funny happened on the flight. By the time it got to my turn, the in-flight meal was just left with meat. I told them I didn’t want meat. I preferred chicken. The thing is most meat meals on flights are not nice so I don't like taking a meat meal. So well I told them I didn’t want it. Obviously annoyed with me, the ol'lady air hostesses brought me biscuits and sandwich.. as if I'm a child. If I didn’t eat my banku before the flight anka is this how you are going to make me starve? Boi! Well I later ate the biscuits when I got to my hotel.
When I arrived at JFK airport, I picked a taxi to my hotel and the taxi driver happened to be a Ghanaian. He drove me around a bit to show me a few places before taking me to my hotel. After resting for some hours, I decided to go out and check the place out. New York is beautiful!
Throughout my stay, I went out almost every night. My favourite place was Times Square. Obviously!!! My last day I went chilling ankasa with my friendship per diem from Esenam’s Tweety.
I had a lovely time in New York and I looked forward to going back in July and have a bit of a tour in some States but as COVID would have it, I couldn’t.
I’ve always appreciated the opportunities my work gives me to travel but I have come to appreciate it more in this season.
I miss travelling! I miss walking into the stores of the major brands and trying on clothes I don't intend buying because I can't afford π. I miss leaving my clothes in hotels because my luggage is full from buying items on sale at H&M π€£π€£π€£.
When all this is over, my next trip is definitely going to be memorable!
