I joined Facebook way back. I don’t remember the exact day but I know who made me join.
An engaging intelligent young man I had chatted with on Yahoo Messenger (hehehehe) kept pestering me to join.
Probably because it was the new ‘cool’. I recall he promised not bother me to turn on my webcam if I joined Facebook. I thought about it for a while. His offer was enticing, considering how I loathe video calls.
I doubt I gave it a deep thought. I joined. He was the first person I added as a friend on there. The one person who pestered me to join left me to fend for myself on there. He barely showed up.
I wondered why he went through all that to make me join only for him to be unavailable.
I had to find my way on the virtual streets.
When you’re chatty and a fun loving person, you don’t have to wander for long. I jumped on posts and made conversations with strangers.
Laughing and posting my pretty legs, showing my sandals and shoes (afokpa).
I aligned with a group of interesting people. I am tempted to say “I have seen it all”. I met quite a number of people via Facebook. Some I regret but others, I am utterly grateful they came my way.
One of such, I am happy to call my bosom (funny word) friend, is Vivian (Bogus girl).
We became real close after extraordinary circumstances π.
She has a peculiar sense of humor which I am used to (my mum and her sisters have a similar sense of humor). She can easily pass as my family member (I have never told her).
We laugh almost at everything, even when others don’t appreciate the humor, we do.
I saw this in Vivian; she could make me laugh at myself and mundane things.
Do you have a friend that buys you your favorite food? Well I do! Vivian bought me my favorite food until her office relocated recently.
During the lockdown, we talked about how we were both dealing with Covid-19 and I joked about our stories becoming blog posts. She asked: why not?
Vi set up this blog and had me writing again. I used to tell myself I needed to write but there was no mojo nor motivation.
She has been an incredible friend to me.
I’m excited to share this blog and unique friendship with her.
Vi, I am looking forward to more years with you and I appreciate the friend you’ve been and are to me.
Don’t stop making me laugh. Hope we take that our planned trip one day.
P.s. I am no longer on Facebook.
