Papa No

So the whole “Papa No”  thing is yet to die down but today I was thinking of my own Papa Nos. Yeah I have had a few.

My first Papa No was a doctor. He was my gynae. Yeah it appears what they say about those guys are true. One day during an examination, I was so sure this man was doing more than an examination. I felt he was stimulating me. There was also something in his eyes; some mischievous look. When he was done, I was like this examination has to go into the Guinness Book of Records. He smiled and I asked him shyly if he liked me and his response was “I thought I’ve showed you already” ☺️☺️☺️ Dirty Papa No!

I didn’t find him attractive but there was something there. We had a weird friendship. He gave me money every now and then. It wasn’t much but eating that money was sweet. Well everything was sweet until one day he tried to recoup all the money he had given me ☹️. That day I cried maa maa. He had pity on me and left my house. Not that I was a virgin at the time but like I said, I didn't find him attractive. Long story short, the relationship ended. I didn't hear from him again and I also didn't contact him.

Then I got my next Papa No. I met this one at an event. This man actually never proposed to me but before I knew it, we were "dating." He paid my rent and would take me on trips out of town. He took the relationship way too serious. He would act all crazy when I don’t answer his calls. One time he came to my place unannounced and met me with someone else. Yieeee!

The guy was drinking the beer that Papa No had left in my fridge 😂. This man bore paa but he couldn’t talk because he didn’t want to create a scene. He left my house and I didn’t hear from him in days. I also didn’t call. I felt it was my way of getting out. He finally called me and told me he knew I would one day leave him for someone my age so he understands and that it just hurts and that if he had his way he will marry me. Awwww sweet Papa No ❤️ Anyway I broke it off. It’s been over 8 years now and he still calls me. Anytime he calls, he tells me how much he misses me and wants to remind me that he’s still available if I can’t get someone to marry 😂

Then there was this one. My favourite amongst the Papa Nos. This one was relatively younger compared to the other two. He had such fine taste. I looooove men like that. He could spoil me silly with gifts and money. I never lacked anything. He could shop! He would buy me anything and everything I asked. I could just send him a list and he would get me everything. The sex was amazing too. He was a beast in bed.

I always wondered why he loved me so much because he didn’t demand much from me. He was very understanding, very caring and loving. I didn’t have to cook for him or do anything. He was just chill. Our relationship was so beautiful. One day I met someone who wanted to be 'serious' at once so I had to end things with this my favourite Papa No because obviously there was no future for us. I discussed with him and he agreed but the decision was difficult for both of us.

Papa No would message me at night and tell me how much he misses me. Sometimes I contacted him too. It was sad but I had to use takashi and cut him off eventually. Some months after cutting him off painfully, this my so-called serious relationship also ended when I caught the silly chap cheating. I felt like reaching out to Papa No but the break up was brutal and I wasn’t sure he would forgive me.

Papa No and I eventually got back together but he was ghosting me a lot. Ei like he was punishing me bi. He wasn’t the very sweet person I knew. Perhaps he was just being cautious. He didn’t want to go in too deep and get hurt. He later travelled out of the country and things became some way. Different time zones.  We are officially over but any time he comes to Ghana, abi you know dada.

Everyday I wonder what would have happened if I didn’t enter the “serious relationship”. Maybe the Papa would have made me his second wife and bought me a house at East Legon 😂

Heels are not my wedding shoes

I thought we had Covid-19  under control but Ghana is steadily moving to a second wave of covid cases. Why? People are not taking the Covid-19 protocols serio usly and that’s pretty upsetting . My teammate joins the public transport every day to work and she tells me, she’s sometimes the only one wearing the mask. That’s very unfortunate. I wish we will all be responsible because covid doesn’t end with how cautious you are. We protect ourselves to save ourselves and others. Wear your masks, wash your hands, keep a sanitizer and observe social distance.   Don’t panic if the result is positive, you will be fine. I know you will be.  Drink warm water with crushed ginger and garlic. Add some lemon for a zesty effect. Most importantly, obey the body. Rest. Sleep. Drink water. Lots of it. And stay positive. You will be fine. Talk to friends who care. I just want to send a special mention to that friend who tested positive, you are loved. I will keep praying for you...

Tributes While I Am Still Alive

My birthday is coming soon, April 1.   I am 39 and very proud of it. Most women shy away from their age and I can’t really tell why?! My younger sister is always dreading her birthdays and one of my cousin’s have been 26 for the past 5 years.  I am one person who bluntly says my age whenever I am asked, irrespective of who and how it’s asked! Yes 39 and beautiful at heart 💜. No children yet and relationship is very much complicated. Relationship wise, I guess I’ve become too comfortable being single. (Hope my mum will skip this part) The things I look out for now are so funny and petty. 1. How he chews when eating  2. Use of shorthand to chat  3. His cologne  4. Low key on social media  5. I’ll end it at 4. In my 39 years on earth, I’ve made some mistakes and learnt a lot from it. I’ve hurt people and  I’m deeply sorry, if you are one of them. Others I know, others I have no ...

Everything Good Will Come

“ I danced the *kpalongo, fearing nothing for my sanity, or common sense. I added a few foreign steps to disorientate the discontented so-and-so: flamenco,can-can, Irish dancing from side to side. Nothing could take my joy away from me. The sun sent her blessings. My sweat baptized me.” ~Enitan Taiwo.  The day Fanny told me “everything good will come”, I felt she was in a better place so she could afford to say things like this to me.  I thought she didn’t understand my pain. I am sure she sensed I wasn’t impressed. Those words sounded like she was being dismissive of my pain. That was far from it. Now, I know better.  Thank you, Fanny.  I have learned; those words are one of the kindest words someone can say to you. You have to enjoy the process. It’s all yours! What’s life without the downs? The bumpy rides make you appreciate life on a smooth road (when you eventually get there). We will all get there soon.  I have been mouthing “everything good will come” fo...
